Unapologetically Appalachian and unashamed in sadness, the Cooks' songwriting preserves the poetry of a disappearing rural America, said David Eduardo of Flagpole Magazine
The Little Country Giants had a busy 2011 recording a new album entitled "60 GRIT" due out May 2012. Their music was also featured in two award winning films, notably the Documentary GROW! which uses music by the Little Country Giants as the soundtrack for the film, and has won many awards including Best Feature in the CO Film Festival, Best Documentary in the Macon Film Festival, Best American Documentary in the Boone International Film Festival, among many more. One half of the songwriting duo, Russell Cook, is performing in the music ensemble with the Stephen King/ John Mellancamp/ T. Bone Burnett musical, the Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, premiering this April at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, GA and runs through the first week in May.
Delivering pure, simple, and timeless rustic songs touching on country, bluegrass, and even rural blues, husband-and-wife duo Cameron Federal and Russell Cook produce artful work on par with the finest of the expansive genre. Masters of the lexicon of rural music, Little Country Giants create music rich with the sounds of Georgia's roots and the musical seeds of America grown. After all, they're giants.
